During our vacation to California, we took Aiden (and Chase) to Disneyland! Thanks Gramma and Grampa!

Aiden was very excited, but hid it very well- as shown in this video:

Aiden did....ooooook.... for his first time at a huge "play place". I think it was a little overwhelming and too hot and waiting in line is never fun. What 2 year old knows patience? But the rides we did make it on Aiden loved and had a really great time.

The Teacups. Aiden chose a blue one- His favorite color.

We went on the Buzz Lightyear ride where you "shoot" aliens with a laser and help Buzz on an interglactic mission. TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!

It's a small world after all. It's a small world after all. It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world.

Tim and Heather went to Disneyland with us, too.

Chase was even able to ride a few and BOY did he love "It's A Small World"! All those lights- he was wide eyed and in shock I think. And that look on Chad's face is realization that the theme song was going to be stuck in his head for DAYS!!

We ran into Goofy and went to take a picture with him, but when it was our turn Aiden changed his mind and would NOT go near Goofy. We tried and he was just wasn't havin' it. So Chase and Mommy took a picture with Goofy. Chase was trying to grab Goofy's nose and eat it. Haha!!

After a few hours, Aiden reached his limit and we went to Rainforest Cafe for some food and to rest a bit. The thunder storm inside the cafe was really neat and Aiden came running to me asking what was going on. He thought it was cool though. He REALLY liked the huge fish tank and stood in front of it watching the fish for awhile.

We had such a fun time taking the boys to Disneyland for their very first time and we can't wait until they're older so we can go again when they'll REALLY know what Disneyland is all about. It's the happiest place on earth. So they say.

Summer Vacation!!

We took a family vacation!

We packed up the car, put the kids in and drove (yes droooooove...) to Southern California to visit some family we have down there.
Chad's sister- Heather
His aunt and uncle- Kellie and Dave
Cousins- Tim and Vanessa
While there, Chad and Tim went deep sea fishing on a chartered boat and caught a ton of fish including baracuda, sand bass, and calico bass. They had a great time doing what they love.
We drove down to San Clemente to visit the town where Chad and I both had lived in back in high school. (Where we met) The beach and pier are still gorgeous as ever!
We walked down the pier which we thought would be fun for the boys, but it was a little windy, so Aiden didn't enjoy it very much. He kept saying, "OK, we're done. Let's go back to the car now."
We managed to make it to the end of the pier for a quick photo. (Chase is in the stroller)
The best times were being with family. It was great to see them and there were definitely lots of laughs!!

The drive had some very pretty scenic parts such as Mt. Shasta. What a beautiful mountain!
And Shasta Lake.
I thought Chad was going to pull over on the side of the freeway, get out and say "See ya at home. I'm goin' fishin'!" Be he restrained himself. Haha. Someday we'll have plan a camping trip and visit Shasta.
The drive was long, but the boys were so great. We were actually surprised at how well they were with being in the car for so long. It seemed, though, that they just knew when we were about an hour or two from our destination and chose that time to start crying and fussing. But it was alright. At least it wasn't like that the entire trip. Being in the car for two days makes you a little crazy.

Victim's of crime

What an AWESOME morning. We woke up to cops knocking on our door to tell us our truck was tagged with spray paint. "big vagina" (spelled wrong) and "fag" and "renob" (boner spelt backwards).
Apparently our neighbor is a probation officer or on probation- we're not sure- and he was targeted. His house got blasted with paint saying "SNITCH" and a variety of other things. Every car that was parked on the street got tagged with obscenties as well.

So very nice.
So that's how we spent 3/4 of our Saturday. Chad's ONLY day off this week.
I'm not mad or anything....

Swimming and Rice Cereal

Yesterday I took the boys to an indoor pool that has a kiddie area that's great for small children and those who can't swim. I really thought that Aiden would have loved being in the pool since he loves baths and playing in the plastic pool in the backyard... nope. He screamed, cried, pleaded, and dug his nails in to my arms (like a cat) the entire time. I felt bad for him, but I was giggling too because he kept saying (or rather screaming), "DON'T LET ME GO!! DON'T EVER LET GO!" and also, "I'M DONE MOM. I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE CAR. WE'RE DONE SWIMMING." We had been there maybe five minutes at that point.

I kept reassuring him that I was holding on tight to him and wasn't going to let go. And then I dunked him. I know, I know! I'm a horrible mom, but he needs to learn. He wasn't too happy with me after that. But honestly, he did great. I told him how proud I was of him and what a big boy he was being and how brave he was, etc., etc....

When Chad got home he asked Aiden how the pool was and Aiden didn't want to talk about it. HAHA!!! But then he decided to tell daddy all about it. So Aiden said he didn't like that big pool. He likes "Aiden's pool in the backyard". But then he asked Chad if he would go swimming with him next time. So maaaaaaaaaaybe we'll be able to get him back in the water and get him used to it and not so afraid. We'll see...

Chase, on the other hand, LOVED being in the pool. He went underwater three times- don't worry, babies naturally hold their breath under water. It's instinctive. He was happy wiggling his toes and fingers in the water.

Today was Chase's first time eating rice cereal from a spoon. We've been mixing some with his bottle for a few days now, but this morning I decided to mix it in a bowl and feed him with a spoon. He did great with it. He wasn't too sure about the new texture in his mouth and is still learning how to use his tongue, but he kept opening his mouth for more. Aiden was laughing at the funny faces Chase was making while trying to figure out how to eat, so I snapped a few pictures.

Blog Award

So here are the rules:

1. When given the award you write about the seven things that you love.

2. Pass the award to 7 bloggers that you love, and be sure to tag them and let them know they've won. (You can copy the picture of the award and insert it in your post.)

This was awarded to me by Kay.

Things I love:

1. My Family. I have been truly blessed with a wonderful and kind husband who loves me endlessly. Together we have two handsome boys who have brought unmeasurable happiness to our lives.

2. My Friends. I have some great friendships from high school days and friends that I have met along the way from our military endeavours. Without them, my life would be less amazing.

3. Music. Music is a passion of mine. Rather, I should say- singing. I remember my mom teaching me to sing harmonies at a young age. Music brings much joy to my soul!

4. Photography. I LOOOOOOOVE taking pictures. I have no photography experience, but I point-and-shoot until I think I have a good picture. I love photographing my boys and capturing moments in their lives. Preserving memories.

5. Accomplishment. (I'm gonna have to steal this one from Kay) It feels GREAT to FINISH something.

6. Reading. There's something about getting lost in a good book. It's a brief escape from reality. We all need that once in awhile.

7. Crafts. I don't really consider myself a crafty person, but I enjoy doing crafts. It's fun to get the creative juices flowing and create something that's handmade and one-of-a-kind!

I'm presenting this award to Cheryn, Leah, Rachelle, Amanda, Priscilla, Melissa, and Brenda.

Playing around with photography

I've been really interested in photography for awhile, but just never pursued it. My mom got free classes with the purchase of her new camera and she had me go along with her to a class. It was very interesting and I learned some cool tips. It was the first class of many and in the next classes are when you get into the nitty gritty of photography and learning how to get the best photo with your camera.

I've been playing around with taking photos and although I HAVE NO IDEA what I'm doing, I managed (somehow) to come out with a few good pictures.

Here are the results of my experimentation:

Summer Fun

We've been keeping active lately with fun things and being outdoors. The weather has been off and on nice, so we've taken advantage of the times when we could get out of the house.

We've been hanging out a lot with our good friends, Danielle and Nick, and Aiden loves playing in the sprinklers and pool in their backyard. Their dog, Diesel does too. He and Aiden are a crack up playing in the water together.

Daisy, our dog, was interested, but not too sure about it.

Chase- the super smiley, happy lil' guy. He's getting so big!!! We had to get a bigger car seat because he was too long for the one we had. Aiden lasted in it until he was a year old. Chase lasted four months. He's wearing 9-month sized clothing and isn't even 5-months old yet. He's just so long! Maybe he'll be the really tall one in the family and will be in the NBA. Daddy can dream right?

Aiden got a kite and was very excited to fly it, so we gave it a shot. The wind was perfect and Aiden felt brave enough to fly it by himself. He held on tight and didn't let go. Good job Aiden!!

We had a bon fire one night and made smores. Aiden has never had smores before, so this was a wonderful new treat. He "helped" daddy build the fire and roasted his own marshmellow. Mommy made the smore for him and we shared the eating part. ;)

We've been having a blast this summer with our boys and look forward to making more memories here before we move on to our next military adventure this fall.
